NEWSBREAK: Nizi International closes base metals desk after two decades

Nizi International has closed its base metals trading desk and book after over 20 years in that sector of the industry. The Luxembourg-based merchant ran down the remainder of its physical base metals book at the end of 2019. Traders including Koen Swerts and Pascal Piette have shifted to its ferro-alloys business, informed sources who declined to be named told Fastmarkets. Nizi International chief executive officer Ulf Berg stepped down from the role toward the end of last year. The company is now being run by former head of legal and tax Gerlando Cappadona, who did not respond to Fastmarkets’ requests for comment.
