Germany’s crude steel output decline slows in August, WV Stahl says

Crude steel production in Germany continued to decrease in August, but the pace of decline has slowed, German steel federation WV Stahl said earlier this week. Germany’s crude steel production totaled 2.83 million tonnes last month, down by 13.14% from 3.26 million tonnes in the corresponding period of 2019. A number of European steelmakers halted equipment or lowered production due to the demand slump during Covid-19 lockdowns across Europe and output still remains reduced despite these restrictions being eased, market sources said.
