US ferrous scrap exports drop by 7.6% month on month in Feb

Ferrous scrap exports from the United States dropped by 7.6% sequentially in February, with a sharp drop in shipments to Turkey outweighing higher flows to Mexico and Bangladesh, according to the latest US Census Bureau data. US exports of ferrous scrap totaled 1,436,500 tonnes in February, down from 1,554,240 tonnes the previous month. Ferrous scrap deliveries to Turkey, the largest buyer of US ferrous scrap, totaled 221,113 tonnes in February. That was down by 35.6% from 343,184 tonnes in January and off by 25.8% from 297,946 tonnes in February 2019.
