Some copper scrap discounts and brass scrap prices in the United States have fallen amid persistent weakness in Comex copper pricing, continuing a trend set in motion last week. While Comex copper prices moved higher over the past week, they still lag levels recorded two weeks earlier. The most-actively traded May-delivery Comex copper contract settled at $2.204 per lb on Wednesday March 25, up by 2.5% from $2.151 per lb last week but down by 11.9% from $2.502 per lb on March 11. Copper scrap operations continue to run normally even as the Covid-19 virus spreads across the country, sources told Fastmarkets, but there are some delays in delivery and a small slowdown in metal flows.
