Aurizon claws back A$230m as regulators finalise access charge limit

Queensland competition regulators have allowed monopoly below-rail provider Aurizon an uplift of A$230m in access charges it can receive from coal shippers as part of a four-year access agreement ending in 2021. In a final decision on Aurizon's access undertaking, dubbed UT5, the Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) has granted a maximum allowable return of around A$4.12bn compared with A$3.90bn in the draft decision.
