Spanish thermal coal imports were ?at year on year at 1.47 mt in July, from 1.48 mt in the same month a year earlier, but were up 12% from June's 1.31 mt, according to customs data. In the first seven months, imports totalled 7.49 mt, down 22% from 9.62 mt in the same period a year earlier. Indonesia was the single biggest provider of thermal coal to Spain in the first seven months of the year, accounting for a third of the total, at 2.57 mt, and up 15% from 2.23 mt in the same period last year. Imports from Indonesia were 0.48 mt in July, up 48% from 0.32 mt in the same month a year ago.
