Global demand for sub-bit and low C.V. to rise 32 mt by 2021

Significant growth in global demand for low-rank and sub- bituminous material is expected in the next few years, despite declining imports from China, it was heard at the Indonesian Coal Market Briefing 2018 in Jakarta on 14 November. Dr James Stevenson, senior director for global coal at IHS Markit spoke at the event, jointly presented by IHS Markit, Coal Club Indonesia and Djakarta Mining Club in Jakarta. He said demand for coal with a calorific value of 4,200-5,000 kc NAR will rise by around 32 mt on the 2018 level by 2021, despite a decline in Chinese intake by 9.7 mt.
