Coal india profits up eight-fold in July-September

Coal India Ltd (CIL) reported an eight-fold increase in profits in its July-September quarter, as the world's biggest coal miner boosted production and sales. Net profit rose to INR30.85bn ($0.43bn) in the second quarter of India's 2018-19 financial year, up sharply from INR3.70bn ($0.05bn) a year ago. The state-owned miner's earnings were boosted by a 10% increase in average coal prices and a sharp year-on-year rise in realisations from e-auction sales.
