Western United States (US) sub-bituminous coal producer CloudPeak Energy cited continued strong export demand in Asia ascompany executives presented at the annual stockholders’meeting on 9 May.“Over the next five years, new coal-fired generation in Asia,outside of China, is forecast to grow by 23 gigawatts,” according tothe presentation. “This generation growth is expected to increaseseaborne thermal coal demand by 20 to 25 mt per annum.”
