India’s Supreme Court has indicated there may not be a case toimpose a ban on petcoke imports as domestic availabilitycurrently trails demand.A final decision is likely to be taken by 19 February, afterconsultation with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, abench of Justice Madan B. Lokur and Deepak Gupta said.There is an expected deficit with regards to availability ofdomestic petcoke, the bench said, while hearing arecommendation of a ban on petcoke imports by the EnvironmentPollution Control Authority (EPCA).
