German utility RWE reported a 27% year-on-year drop in core earnings for the first three quarters of this year, partly driven by lower wholesale prices for power produced by its lignite-fired and nuclear plants. RWE's adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was estimated at EUR1.14bn ($1.29bn) from January-September, down EUR418m ($472m) from the same period last year.
