Seriti Resources inks deal to buy south32’s s. African thermal mines

Seriti Resources has reached a deal with South32 to purchase its South African thermal coal business, making the blackempowered company the country’s second largest coal producer. Seriti Resources agreed to pay South32 an up-front cash payment of around ZAR100m ($6.77m) for its 92% stake in South Africa Energy Coal (SAEC) business, which produced 25 mt/y in fiscal year 2019. The cash will be funded from internal sources, according to Seriti CEO Mike Teke.
