Ridley coal, petcoke exports rise; rail works threaten growth

Canada’s Ridley dry bulk terminal in British Columbia, saw exports increase 18% year-on-year in the first ten months of the year, according to shipping sources. Ridley Terminals exported 8.90 mt, up from 7.50 mt in the same prior-year period. Coking coal exports accounted for nearly 55% of this total at 4.86 mt, with volumes up 5% on last year. Thermal coal exports were 2.69 mt, up from 1.80 mt last year. There was also strong growth in petroleum coke shipments which rose 24% to 1.06 mt.
