India’s Vedanta awards 0.73 mt thermal import tender

India’s Vedanta Ltd has awarded tenders totaling 0.73 mt of imported coal for delivery between December and March. Of the total award, 0.33 mt is Russian coal and 0.40 mt is Indonesian. Price details are not available but it is understood that the awards have gone directly to miners, unlike on previous occasions when the aluminium maker mostly purchased through traders. Vedanta floated the tender on 22 October for up to 1.13 mt with an initial deadline on 29 October, which was extended to attract more participants.
