Indonesian coal prices continued to rise this week, but momentum slowed as the week wore on. Bids for sub-bituminous coal weakened in the latter half of the week, to $48.00/t FOB, basis 4,800 kc NAR, for an October loading Panamax. Similar material traded last week at $48.25/t FOB, basis 4,800 kc NAR, also for an October loading Panamax. Offers were heard at $51.50-52.50/t FOB, basis 5,000 kc NAR, for October loading Panamaxes, with no bids heard in return. A week back, a trade for similar grade coal concluded at $50.50/t FOB, basis 5,000 kc NAR, for an October loading Panamax.
