Coal logistics and supply chains have dodged the impact of raging bush fires across Australia’s two key coal producing states, New South Wales and Queensland, with minimal effect on the sector so far, industry sources said. At the height of the crisis, there were more than 80 active fires across NSW reported by local fire services officials, though all those categorized at the highest “emergency warning” levels on Monday were downgraded by Wednesday. A State of Emergency declared by officials in the state on Monday citing a ‘catastrophic fire danger’, was expected to be ongoing for a week.
