Chinese steel output up 9% year on year: World steel

World Steel Association data for August shows China produced 87.3 mt of crude steel, up 9.3% from the 79.8 mt produced in August 2018. For the year through August, China has produced 664.9 mt of steel, a 9.1% increase from the January-August 2018 timeframe. Overall world production, led obviously by the Chinese, came in at 156.0 mt in August, basically flat with July, but up 3.4% year on year from 150.9 mt in August 2018.
