Japan’s Nippon Steel has agreed a lagged semi-soft coking coal price of $103.70/t FOB, for January-March 2020 (Q1) deliveries from Australian suppliers, according to multiple sources. The settlement represents a $5.70/t improvement on the previous quarter (Oct-Dec 2019) settlement of $98.00/t FOB, while also offering 70.5% relativity to prime hard coking coal at index-linked pricing of $147.05/t for the three months ending 29 February, based on Nippon’s pricing formula.
