Mechel reports increased coal output, sales in April-June

Mechel reported Wednesday that its run-of-mine coal output in the second quarter of this year increased by 7% compared with the first quarter to 4.58 mt from 4.28 mt. Compared with the second quarter of 2019, output fell by about 1% from 4.62 mt. In January-June, coal output increased by 45% on the year to 8.86 mt from 6.10 mt. Mechel’s sales of washed coking coal in April-June increased by 14% to 1.63 mt compared with 1.42 mt in January-March. Compared with the second quarter of 2019, washed coking coal sales fell by 15% from 1.92 mt.
