Colombian exports seen restricted to year-end

Colombian thermal coal exports could remain significantly down through much of the rest of the year, even if the mining regulator orders the restart of shuttered operations and a strike ends. Exports could fall by nearly 20.0 mt this year from 76.4 mt last year, after stoppages at Prodeco and Colombia Natural Resources (CNR), the third and fourth largest exporters, a strike at Cerrejón, the second largest exporter, and reduced production as a consequence of measures taken to prevent spread of the coronavirus.
