The EU Parliament and Council reached a preliminary deal to cap the level of cadmium in fertilizers during a Trilogue meeting on November 20, EU Council Press Officer Leonidas Karamountzos told Fertilizer Week. The agreement, which is still to be approved by MEPs and member states, limits the cadmium content in phosphate fertilizers to 60 mg/kg P2O5 and creates a ‘low cadmium’ level label for products below 20 mg/kg P2O5.
