Ammonia activity has slowed substantially as market participants take vacations and buyers digest recent price hikes east and west of Suez. Activity is expected to remain at a low ebb in August allowing producers to build up ammonia stocks following recent plant shutdowns. One of the few big events this week was Yara and Mosaic’s Tampa August price settlement at $310/t CFR. An increase of $30/t reflects similar price hikes in the Black Sea over the past month owing to tight supply prompted by major plant turnarounds amid steady demand.
