CF Industries’ Q2 earnings surge to $148 million

Higher selling prices and lower natural-gas costs helped CF Industries’ net earnings to hit $148 million in the second quarter of 2018, up from just $3 million a year earlier. Net sales in Q2 2018 rose 16% to $1.30 billion, while sales volumes rose to a record 5.5 Mt. Sales volumes benefited from carry-over demand in the first quarter as a result of unfavourable weather earlier in the year delaying the spring application season.
