Canada: Vancouver FOB assessment lower

Spot prices for sulphur exports from Vancouver were assessed down at $110-120/mt FOB on an indicative basis from $120-130/mt CFR following price falls in import destinations, though there were no new spot sales confirmed this week. Lower delivered prices in key global markets mean higher netbacks are no longer realistic. For example, recent delivered prices to China have declined to $135-150/mt CFR, with even the upper end of this range difficult to achieve now. Freights from Vancouver to China are around $21-23/mt on large vessels of 60,000 mt.
