Mexico: H1 acid exports down 20%

Mexico exported 111,782 mt of sulphuric acid in June 2017, leaving the volume for the first half of the year down 20% at 480,081 mt, according to data from IHS GTA. Chile was the largest outlet for June, taking 58,776 mt. The US remained the key destination for Mexican exports overall, taking 45,576 mt of the June tonnes and 53% (255,647 mt) of the January-June exports, most of which was likely sourced from Grupo Mexico’s La Caridad smelter. The volume to the US over H1 period was down 33%.
