Canada: Vancouver assessed up after global climbs

Spot prices for sulphur sales from Vancouver were assessed up at $87-92/mt FOB from $83-88/mt on a notional basis following global price increases, with recent business as well as delivered prices suggesting that even higher prices may be the new norm. As published last week, a seller reported a sale of 50,000 mt ex-Vancouver at $112/mt CFR China for H2 March/H1 April loading. Based on current freights, this would likely net back to around the mid-to-high $90s/mt FOB Vancouver, though is not certain how repeatable such a price is, and most market participants argue that it is not representative of current market levels.
