India: April DAP production and imports slump

India's DAP production in April dropped 38% to 259,800 t from 417,880 t in April 2019 as the country’s Covid-19 lockdown hit activity, according to updated FAI data. DAP production had reached 4.6 Mt in the full fertilizer year April 2019-March 2020, up 17% year on year. Production has improved in May but currently remains down on average rates due to labour, bagging and consumables shortages along with switching to NP/NPK production due to higher margins for sales inland.
