US Gulf: Spot demand slows on higher prices

The spot price assessment for sulphuric acid cargoes to the US Gulf was unchanged again this week at $12-27/t CFR, as new sales were scarce. As previously reported, six cargoes were heard sold to Mosaic in April at $12-14/t CFR US Gulf. Subsequently a sale was heard to Beaumont at a single-digit CFR price. Sources indicated the tonnes were coming from Japan, which would suggest the sale was agreed earlier last month when Japanese cargoes were distressed due to an extended shutdown of consumption in the Philippines.
