US potash prices decline as buyers elsewhere hold back

Potash prices dropped this week in the US Midwest and for barge transactions out of New Orleans, while market activity elsewhere was largely limited as buyers anticipated further declines. The weaker US prices came despite Nutrien’s announcement last week that it plans to temporarily suspend potash production at three of its Saskatchewan mines during the fourth quarter in response to the current weak demand environment.
