Chile: Contracts heard mostly done around $68-75/t CFR

Contracts for 2020 supply of sulphuric acid to Chile were mostly settled in a range around $68-75/t CFR, according to market sources, though some volumes were yet to be committed. The CFR prices make it difficult to move volumes from the Far East to Chile, aside from combo vessels. As 2020 sales commitments from producers in Japan and South Korea are at upper-single-digit FOBs while freights from the Far East to Chile range from the high $60s/t to the low $70s/t, such movements would leave no margin unless freight rates decline.
