The naturally occurring ethyl ester of p-methoxycinnamic acid can undergo efficient enzymatic conversion into the corresponding isoamyl ester via lipase catalysis using natural isoamyl alcohol as reactant.This transesterification provides a natural route to a popular sunscreen filter.
