US: Solid sulphur imports declining

US imports of solid sulphur from Januar through October 2019 declined year on year, with the volume from Russia down 46% to 205,100 t and the volume from Kazakhstan down 22% at 129,620 t, according to IHS Markit data. Imports from Saudi Arabia were up 45% at 47,714 t. Over the full year of 2018, the US imported 477,932 t from Russia and 165,663 t from Kazakhstan. The country also imported its first full Saudi sulphur cargo (33,000 t) since 1999 in January 2018 and 31,503 t from Qatar in March 2018, leaving solid imports for the year at 708,098 t.
