Most growers were planning to focus on planting in the Midwest this week, but in a few areas pre-plant and even some side-dress nitrogen application was hoped for by distributors. Some distributors' operations reported not a single ammonia truck loading over the three- day holiday weekend. Distributors said this not only reflects the soggy conditions, but also suggests many retailers already have refilled their ammonia tanks in hopes of side-dress demand.
