China: Q1 potash imports at record high

China’s March imports of MOP totalled around 800-850,000 t, according to Fertilizer Week estimates. The monthly volume means that China’s MOP imports for the first quarter are estimated at around 2.95 Mt. This is a record high for Q1 arrivals and the second highest quarterly figure in history after the 3.3 Mt recorded for Q4 2015. Chinese MOP importers continue to receive 2018/19 contract volumes from overseas producers.
