Morocco: Deals heard as low as $50s/t CFR

Morocco’s OCP has reportedly purchased sulphuric acid tonnes as low as the $50s/t CFR, although the buyer’s acid demand was declining. OCP of Morocco is expected to add new acid capacity in 2019 with the start-up of the standalone sulphur burner to supply acid to the existing Line E phosphoric acid plant, which is currently expected to be running by early 2019. The commissioning of this burner should bring OCP’s sulphuric acid supply and demand capacity more into balance, reducing its merchant acid requirement.
