US removes sanctions placed on Latvian ports

The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) removed sanctions on Ventspils Freeport following Latvian government action to strip ownership or control from oligarch Aivars Lembergs. This comes after sanctions were imposed on four Latvia-based entities that are owned or controlled by Lembergs including the Ventspils Freeport Authority December 9, ruling that activities by Latvian oligarch Aivars Lembergs be wound down by January 8, 2020.
