US imports of solid sulphur for January-June 2019 declined slightly year on year, with the volume from Russia up 44% to 195,250 t but the volume from Kazakhstan down 47% at 87,570 t, according to IHS Markit data. Over the full year of 2018, the US imported 477,932 t from Russia and 165,663 t from Kazakhstan. The country also imported its first full Saudi sulphur cargo (33,000 t) since 1999 in January 2018 and 31,503 t from Qatar in March 2018, leaving solid imports for the year at 708,098 t.
