Prices for sulphuric acid exports from Japan and South Korea were assessed unchanged at $5-12/t FOB for spot and contract sales, though the upper end of the range seemed increasingly unlikely on new sales in the current market. Korea Zinc has suggested it would issue a tender, sources said. Although some traders expect prices to climb to around $15/t FOB on tender activity, others believe that anything above $10/t FOB is no longer realistic. High freight rates combined with low CFR bids in both Chile and India are adding pressure on FOB levels.
