Nutrien announces production cut as Brazilian prices slide

Nutrien announced plans this week to temporarily suspend potash production at three of its Saskatchewan mines during the fourth quarter of 2019 as granular MOP spot prices declined an average of $8/t in Brazil. The Brazilian market has been under downwards pressure over recent weeks as a result of heavy competition between suppliers amid the persistence of weak demand in other key global markets including China, Southeast Asia and Northwest Europe.
