But there is now evidence that cases in British eggs are on the rise, albeit from low levels."We can't just blame imported eggs," says the Animal and Plant Health Authority's (Apha's) salmonella consultant, Rob Davies. He advises egg producers to review their disease control routines from how they administer either injectable or live vaccines, to rodent management measures and cleaning strategies.
