There seems to have been a bit of a fuss recently about the use of hostesses at exhibitions. Not so very long ago, it seemed that there was a challenge between some exhibitors to come up with the most edgy and sexy display involving the most beautiful and barely clad women. Some trade shows were more like going to Spearmint Rhino than a place you went to look at power tools and building materials and to be honest, the girls were the things that got talked about after the show, not the latest Turbo Nutter Drill with Easi Chuck. And, just maybe, I would have enjoyed it and joined in-maybe even led the banter. The stand out exception was Gary Dutton of course who, when he took Synseal to Glassex back in the '80s, didn't need any such gimmicks to get people on to his stand.
