Sinopec backtracks on level of involvement in Alaska LNG

The proposed 20 mtpa Alaska LNG plant has been dealt a blow after Sinopec indicated it does not want to play a major part in the engineering and construction of the project, according to reports, with the decision coming nine months after the company signed a joint development agreement. Sinopec's decision to back out came after the company sent a delegation to Alaska to review the technical specifications of the project, according to reports. The Chinese company had initially expressed an interest in getting its engineering and construction subsidiary to play a major role in the project.
