Argentina exports power to Brazil to clear temporary glut of Vaca Muerta shale gas

Argentina started exporting electricity to Brazil this week for the first time in 15 years, enabled by a boost in Vaca Muerta shale production that resulted in excess volumes during the low-demand Argentine spring period. Argentina’s energy ministry announced that '600MW of power' would be sent to Brazil over one week, ending 28 September, following an agreement with respective power market operators ONS and CAMMESA. It is understood the ministry was referring to 600 MWh.
