Equinor makes Rosebank return after agreeing to buy Chevron’s 40% field stake

Equinor has returned to one of the largest undeveloped fields on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) by agreeing to take Chevron’s 40% operator stake in the Rosebank project – five years after selling its 30% stake to OMV. Chevron has made limited progress since the field was discovered in 2004. Rosebank was progressing through pre-sanction front end engineering and design (FEED) and believed to be on the brink of taking a positive final investment decision (FID) in 2014 before the oil price crash.
