Shell takes UK North Sea FID after revamping Fram as gas and condensate field

Shell has revived its Fram field in the UK North Sea by taking a final investment decision to proceed under a revamped development concept with reduced output focussing on gas and condensate, five years after suspending work due to “unexpected reservoir results” that rendered the project uneconomical at the time. The Dutch supermajor on Monday approved its second UK North Sea project this year, which will produce around 41 MMcf/d of gas and 5,300 barrels/d of condensate. This equates to 12,400 boe/d, a significant cut on the 35,000 boe/d envisaged before the redesign, when Fram was to be developed as an oil and gas field.
