Israel set to become energy exporter after approving ‘historic’ gas flows to Egypt

Israel's energy minister Yuval Steinitz today signed all relevant documents approving the export of natural gas from the offshore Leviathan and Tamar gas fields to Egypt through the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) pipeline. “For the first time in its history,” Steinitz (pictured) said, “Israel is becoming an energy exporter. This is the most important economic cooperation between Israel and Egypt since the 1979 peace agreement between the countries.”
