Benin revives LNG import dream via FSRU and supply deal with Total

Benin has resuscitated long-lost plans to import LNG via a small floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) by signing two key agreements with Total to supply the vessel and a modest amount of fuel to generate power in the small west African country. The Republic of Benin and state power company SBEE signed gas supply and host government agreements covering FSRU installation and the supply of 0.5 mtpa of LNG over 15 years, starting in 2021.
