Freeport LNG opts for new contractor for Train 4 after selecting KBR

Freeport LNG has opted not to continue with the same contractors that built the first three liquefaction trains at its delayed LNG plant in Quintana Island, Texas. The company chose KBR as preferred bidder to build a fourth train that will take plant capacity to 18.92 mtpa - if sufficient volumes are sold to offtakers to finance the expansion. KBR was selected this week for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract following the completion of a nine-month front-end engineering and design (FEED) verification, execution planning and EPC proposal process. A fixed priced EPC contract is expected to be concluded during the current quarter, KBR said, adding that notice to proceed is expected in H2.
