Court freezes TurkStream assets after Gazprom ‘tried to avoid’ paying Naftogaz

Ukraine’s Naftogaz claims to have prevented Gazprom from wriggling out of paying a chunk of the USD 2.56 billion Stockholm arbitration award by winning a legal bid to prevent Gazprom from excluding its subsidiary developing the TurkStream gas pipeline from the award. The Ukrainian state-run company said on Friday that the Amsterdam District Court this week approved its application to “attach” 100% of the shares in Gazprom’s subsidiary South Stream Transport B.V. to the landmark arbitration award.
