Vietnam’s first LNG terminal to break ground imminently after EPC contract award

Vietnam’s first LNG terminal took a major step towards to fruition this week after PetroVietnam awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract (EPC) to a consortium spearheaded by Samsung C&T and concluded a deal to supply gas from the terminal to PetroVietnam Power Corp. PetroVietnam’s subsidiary PV Gas awarded the EPC contract to Samsung C&T and PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), with the South Korean firm taking a 61% stake in the consortium. Construction work on the Thi Vai LNG terminal will start on 30 June and is expected to be completed in October 2022, Samsung added.
